The Challenge

The homeowners loved their property and tight-knit community, but their 900 sq ft single-story ranch no longer met the needs of their growing family. Rather than relocate, they chose to invest in their home and expand it into a long-term solution. DRR Contracting partnered with them to design and build a custom two-story addition that transformed their home into a 2,800 sq ft residence. Complete with a two-car attached garage, additional living space, and upgraded amenities while preserving the comfort and charm of the original structure.

The Approach

Our team approached this project with a clear goal: create more space without losing the feeling of home. We collaborated closely with the homeowners to understand their needs for functionality, privacy, and shared gathering spaces. Every design decision was made with intention, balancing aesthetic appeal with practical living.

Added a second story, relocating three bedrooms upstairs to maximize first-floor living space.
Built a large family room with vaulted ceilings for relaxed gathering and everyday living.
Constructed a two-car attached garage with interior access and ample storage.
Introduced 1.5 additional bathrooms, including a spa-inspired primary bath with double vanity, walk-in shower, and freestanding tub.
Expanded and updated the kitchen and entry layout to improve flow and sightlines.

The Results

The transformation is both dramatic and seamless. The new two-story home feels fresh and expansive without losing its original charm. Every square foot is now designed to support how the family lives today and into the future. The open-concept layout creates natural flow from kitchen to living room, the garage adds convenience, and the second floor offers much-needed separation and privacy. Most importantly, the family got to stay in the place they love, in a home that finally fits their lives.
